Nick has always had a passion for animals and their care since being a small boy in his home town in the West Riding. He was keen to see practice in his local surgery and was always the last to leave after evening surgery whenever he had the chance, and it was at this stage he opted to
Nick has been married to Debbie since 1989 and they have two children, Katie and Eddie. Both Debbie and Katie have pivotal roles within the practice which is what makes this a very much family practice.
“When the opportunity arose to buy our existing building in July 2013 we jumped at the chance. Everything we have done since then, from the installation of automatic entry doors through to the layout of our building, has been primarily focused on ensuring clients and their pets feel safe and relaxed. All our team are individually committed to ensuring we provide a first class quality of service. We enjoy working hard for you and your pets. We’re collectively proud of what we have achieved in such a short time and very grateful for the support of all our wonderful clients”
To relax Nick loves spending time walking the dogs riding his bike or taking the chance to watch a bit of club cricket at the Driffield Recreation Club on a summer Saturday afternoon.
On the dark nights, when not working, Nick enjoys tinkering with his old cars and especially his 1961 Ford Anglia which he raced for 25 years. The car was bought for Debbie as an engagement present but is currently in intensive care at home after Nick rolled it in a testing accident, very much a labour of love he hopes to be racing it around a track sometime in the future.
I started working at Bridge Street Veterinary Practice as an assistant vet on the 26th of March 2018. Prior moving to Driffield I worked at a 24 hour emergency and critical care hospital in Málaga (Spain), it was my first job after graduating in July of 2017.
I was born in Antrim, Northern Ireland. Raised in Middle Wallop Hampshire until I was eight years old when my family and I moved to Chiclana de la Frontera Spain. This is where I grew up and lived until going to university.
I studied my Veterinary Medicine degree at the University of Cordoba (Spain) and qualified with very good grades. During my time there I was a collaborating student in the departments of anatomy for 2 years, infectious diseases for 1 year and small animal surgery for 2 years also.
During my second and third year summer holidays I interned at two local veterinary practices to learn and help out with what ever I could. On my fourth year I was one of six students chose to do a 2 month internship at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Hannover (Germany). And during my final year I spent 3 weeks in the department of orthopedic
surgery at the Royal Dick School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh.
I’ve been passionate about all animals for as long as I can remember and I love everything about my job. I hope to carry on specializing in the years to come. I am very interested in feline medicine, surgery and critical care.
I have just moved to Driffield and live in a fabulous flat near the canal. In my free time I like to go for long walks in the countryside/keep active, photography, reading, cooking and traveling. My best adventures so far have been camping in the Canadian Rocky Mountains during summer and going on expedition to the Baikal Lake in Siberia in December!
Debbie is the practice manager and part time receptionist. Originally from Withernsea, Debbie has lived and worked in Driffield since the late seventies. She met Nick when she sold him his first house whilst working in a local estate agent in 1987. She fondly remembers their first dog Bonnie
Debbie had a career break to raise the family but restarted work in local government and is now relishing the new challenge of building and running both the veterinary practice and our sister dental practice upstairs.
To relax she enjoys keeping the gardens tidy and trim, both at home and at work, and still finds time to walk with the dogs and read. She’s recently started swimming on a regular basis at the Driffield pool to keep fit as well as enjoying the occasional cycle ride.
Deb used to race cars along with Nick in both circuit racing and autograss and made a stunning grass track debut by tipping the car on its side at her very first competitive event. She emerged unscathed and went on to come third in the women’s club championship that year.
Katie always wanted to become a vet or a veterinary nurse from an early age. She used to jump at the chance to go around with Nick/Dad on farm calls, and was present at several late night surgical sessions in both large and small animals. She would freely admit this is her dream job.
Katie loves the chance to work with all the animals on a daily basis as well as working long days with Dad when running our regular puppy parties three Wednesdays each month.
She has studied hard to pass her Veterinary Support Diploma with distinction and is now training towards the RCVS veterinary nursing qualification at the College of Animal Welfare in Leeds.
Katie is also a qualified dental nurse which she achieved before starting work for the practice and that is how she met Mark, her husband, who is now the managing director of our sister practice Bridge Street Dental upstairs. As we say, this is very much a family practice.
Katie and Mark currently have three cats, Maddie, Binky and Norman, as well as two Labradors Spot and Rodney. All the pets get on famously with Norman and Spot playing together constantly.
Amy started with us on the reception desk but is now enjoying her new role as a Veterinary Nurse Assistant, before joining the team Amy was working as a qualified dental nurse. She enjoyed dental nursing but had always wanted to work around animals since being a young girl. She loves meeting new people and their pets and offering a helping hand.
Amy has always lived locally to Driffield with her Mum and brother. When she’s not working she is normally spending time with her beloved cocker spaniel Digby, they love walking around the Cottam circular, going for a stroll on the beach or whipping up some home made dog treats and snuggling up to watch a film. In her spare time she also enjoys studying for her various online courses, her most recent achievement was getting a distinction on an animal psychology course.
I joined Bridge Street Vets wanting a change of career, after working as a hairdresser in Driffield for over 15 years. I love animals and enjoy seeing all different kinds, every day, here at the vets.
Through the day I spend my time with my 13 month old daughter, Ramona. She loves reading books, playing in the garden and playing with her pretend kitchen. She loves making me a cup of tea with her little kettle!
I enjoy going to gigs and music festivals with my husband, Russell, and when I get a chance I enjoy baking and a bit of gardening too.
Kim is our evening and Saturday receptionist, she has worked in Driffield for a number of years as a receptionist in an established hair salon but after graduating from Bishop Burton College this year with a Foundation Degree in Animal Management and Behaviour she is now excited to be able to work within an animal environment and join our team having always been

Abi is our dog groomer working in our Sunshine Groomers salon since we opened in November 2013. She has previously worked in a salon in Filey but jumped at the opportunity to build the successful addition to Bridge Street Vets.
Abi qualified from Bishop Burton College with distinction in 2012 and has been responsible for growing the grooming business to a degree that we now have additional groomers – Hope and Chelsea. This ensures we can meet the requirements of our ever-increasing number of new and regular established clients.
Abi lives in Filey with her boyfriend Luke and their daughter Ellie-Mai who is 9 months old and their house rabbit Floppy. They have become best friends chasing each other around the house getting into mischief together.
Hi. My name’s Chelsea, and I am a qualified dog groomer. Before I joined the fantastic Sunshine Groomers team in January 2018, I worked in a couple of grooming salons in the Hull area, and ran my own successful grooming business from home in Beverley.
After studying a Level 3 Animal Management Course at Bishop Burton, I found my love for dog grooming. I went on to complete a Level 3 City & Guilds Intro to Dog Grooming course, which I qualified in July 2017, and have experience working with Personal Protection Dogs and in Dog Kennels.
I’m also a proud owner of a Sprocker Spaniel, Harry, and Bedlington Terrier, George, which I spend most of my spare time spoiling, cuddling on the sofa, or running round a field with!
There is nothing more rewarding than watching a dog grow confidence in the salon, and leave looking comfortable and beautiful.
I started working at Sunshine Groomers in March 2018 having previously been a salon manager at Scarborough Groom Room.
I have been grooming for nearly 3 years and have completed my City & Guilds level 2, I have also attended various seminars since qualifying to ensure I keep up to date with the latest grooming trends.
I live in Driffield with my boyfriend Jimmy and we have a 4 years old black Labrador called Maisie. In our down time we enjoy long walks in the Yorkshire Wolds and trying all the local dog friendly pubs and restaurants
